As the Coronavirus/COVID-19 situation has evolved over the past few weeks, AAMI has adjusted our operations to be able to provide the best possible support and leadership to the health technology community. No matter the circumstances, we are here to support you in carrying out our shared mission of advancing patient safety.
We realize that many of our members and constituents are working right now on the front lines of this outbreak. AAMI is grateful for those efforts. We are providing direct support and guidance, via a Q&A with The Joint Commission’s director of engineering, hosting online Coronavirus town halls, and ensuring our resources and standards are readily available and rapidly accessible.
In addition, we’ve compiled a directory of highly relevant and useful resources, including making three AAMI standards and TIRs available for free. We would also like to reinforce the availability of our AAMI Connect community, which is a quick way to find answers and share your knowledge with your colleagues in the field.
If you need additional answers or assistance, please contact us at membership@aami.org. We’re here to help.
As we look toward the coming months, we remain committed to providing a seamless experience for our members and constituents. The following is snapshot of broad actions we’ve taken to continue to serve you:
Access to your member benefits will continue without disruption.
Our staff is now 100% operational from remote locations. We expect our operations to proceed normally, however, the AAMI office will not be able to accept visitors until further notice.
A robust virtual option for all training/courses is available to you. We are committed to offering virtual attendance options throughout the remainder of the year.
Your participation in our standards meetings can happen virtually right now and for the foreseeable future.
2020 AAMI Exchange has been cancelled
After careful consideration of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, AAMI has made the difficult decision to cancel our annual conference and expo, AAMI Exchange, that was scheduled for June 12-15, 2020 in New Orleans, LA. As with any AAMI event, the safety, health, and well-being of our attendees, exhibitors, and staff is paramount. It was clear that we would not be able to make that assurance if we proceeded with the 2020 event. More information is available here.
International Standards Conference (AAMI/FDA/BSI International Conference on Medical Device Standards and Regulation)
The International Standards Conference has been cancelled and we are in the process of refunding registration fees. While we understand that this is disappointing, the health and safety of our community is our top priority.
AAMI Training and Education Goes Virtual
Effective March 13, 2020, AAMI is transitioning all in-person courses scheduled through April 30, 2020, to a virtual format.
Our virtual option is robust and interactive. We will ship you the devices needed for hands-on learning during your course. You will also have easy access to course content, and you will be able to interact live with your fellow classmates and instructors. Curious about whether virtual will work for you? Test it out at http://zoom.us/test.
Existing registrants have four options:
If you are currently registered for a course taking place prior to April 30, 2020, please contact education@aami.org to confirm your registration selection.
If you are completing a new registration, you will be able to select either live or virtual attendance when you register.
Standards Meetings Going Virtual
All standards meetings are now being conducted virtually. If you have questions, please email us at standards@aami.org.
ACI Certification Testing Window and Application Deadline have Shifted

The application deadline is now July 15 and the testing window is now August 1-31. To check the status of your local testing center, please visit: https://www.kryteriononline.com/blog/update-kryterion-testing-center-closures. We will provide further updates as we approach the testing window.
