Senior Director, Membership Development
The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is the world’s leading organization for advancing the development, management, and use of safe and effective healthcare technology. The Senior Director is responsible for meeting or exceeding membership growth and revenue targets through the development and implementation of clear and concise membership recruitment and retention plans. She/he will identify new target audiences and propose campaigns that will help ensure AAMI’s future growth.

Essential Duties (Responsibilities)
- Meet or exceed annual membership numbers and revenue targets.
- Assist in the development of annual membership budget (revenue projections, expenses, and reforecasts).
- Develop and implement plans to increase member retention rates and grow AAMI membership. Special focus on institutional and other organizational members (health delivery organizations, universities, research centers).
- Oversee the development, use and analysis of membership data to showcase historical trends. Interpret trends to make informed recommendations on recruitment and retention strategies.
- Work with IT team and Membership Coordinator on membership technology requirements, including online membership processes, website updates, identifying data needs, etc.
- Collaborate with AAMI’s marketing team to develop effective membership marketing collateral, social media, brochures, advertisements, and other promotional material to support membership initiatives.
- Manage AAMI Awards and Fellows nomination and recognition processes. Serve as staff liaison to the AAMI Awards Committee and AAMI Fellow Selection Committee. Coordinate promotional and recognition plans across internal departments.
- Develop and lead AAMI’s Mentorship Program for early career professionals
- Manage AAMI Career Center online job site and annual live event, including plans to increase growth and promote as member benefit. Manage contract and act as staff contact between AAMI and external site vendor.
- Manage and regularly monitor AAMI’s online discussion platform, AAMI Connect, for key questions to be answered, remove inappropriate posts, and help update with audience specific content on a regular basis, as well as other member outreach efforts.
- Manage, motivate, and mentor two (2) junior staff.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- An undergraduate bachelor’s degree. Preference for a degree in Business, Marketing, or related (e.g., advertising, PR, communications, etc.).
- Seven to ten years of association or related experience in membership.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and strong marketing skills are required. Analytical skills are highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficient in association management software.

Working Conditions

Director of Standards
AAMI is seeking a Director of Standards in the Standards Department reporting to the Sr. Director. This is an exempt position. The individual will work closely with AAMI members, industry leaders, government representatives and subject matter experts (SMEs) across the field, to develop standards and related products that focus primarily on assigned areas of AAMI standards portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with and provide support and oversight as appropriate to committees and working groups in the development of national (AAMI, ANSI) and international (ISO/IEC) standards ensuring all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
- Working with the Senior Director to identify areas of opportunity within assigned work area(s) to broaden AAMI’s offerings or engagement and develop corresponding business plans for VP’s consideration.
- Liaise with and represent AAMI, its policies, and values to all stakeholders at committee working group and other relevant meetings as appropriate.
- Convene and advise members of the publications, marketing, and education staff on the ongoing status of standards to ensure the appropriate and timely coordination of the production, promotion, and marketing of standards and related or derivative products.
- Collaborate with membership in recruiting and retaining corporate members to achieve budgeted corporate membership revenue targets
- Respond to written, electronic mail, and telephone inquiries regarding standards in a timely manner.
- Develop reports, articles, etc. as requested.
- Provide budget input as requested.
- Assist in the formulation of both internal and external AAMI policies, positions, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Strong communication (both written and oral), leadership and interpersonal skills required.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously required.
- Experience managing volunteer committees within a membership organization is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience desired (e.g., medical device industry, etc.).
- Knowledge of U.S. and international standards systems is highly desirable.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, transparency, and collaboration.
- Technologically efficient; must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based platforms.
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are an office environment. Hybrid schedule, two days a week in the Arlington, VA, office; remainder of the week remote. Flexibility required.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 20%).

Director, Marketing
This position is responsible for leading marketing and communications at AAMI to support its mission and goals, drive up revenue, and increase brand awareness among members, customers, and key stakeholders. This position involves both strategic planning and hands-on daily execution of multiple marketing tasks.

- Lead the marketing of AAMI’s and the AAMI Foundation’s portfolio of products and services (standards, non-standards products, courses, webinars, and other resources) by developing and executing a high-performance strategy.

- Design strategic and tactical plans for ongoing content marketing/communications efforts for all distribution channels including email, web, blog, podcast, and social.

- Collaborate with the VP of marketing and communications to establish and execute long-term improvements and revisions of AAMI’s websites.
- Monitor KPIs from marketing, web, and social analytics.
- Meet or exceed annual product sales volume and revenue targets of more than $3 million. Drive sales of e-Subscriptions, AAMI’s digital platform for AAMI standards.
- Meet or exceed annual Education Department revenue targets of more than $6 million and manage an annual net budget of $1.5 million.
- Manage three direct reports, the marketing and communications manager, graphic designer, and sales and marketing coordinator.
- Oversee relationships with outside vendors and partners.
- Review all marketing content for clarity, accuracy, engagement, creativity, relevance, branding, and overall quality.
- Enforce and strengthen branding policies.
- Conduct research, data analysis, and other intelligence gathering to build a deep understanding of the marketplace, members, customers, channels, competitors, technologies, and industry standards.
- Develop and coordinate special AAMI marketing projects, marketing brochures, membership advertisements, special publications, and AAMI calendar.
- Maintain all of AAMI’s logos and work with vendors to monitor the web for copyright infringement.
- Plan and manage logistics for the AAMI presence on the expo floor at the AAMI Exchange
- Develop and track analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing techniques.
- Prepare budget for approval by the VP Marketing & Communications and monitor it throughout the year to ensure we are on target for revenue.

- BA/BS degree in communications or marketing required or a combination of a related degree and substantial relevant experience.
- Five+ years of experience in marketing or relevant roles, preferably dealing with healthcare technology topics.
- Experience designing and successfully executing complex marketing strategies for products, programs/events, and memberships/subscriptions.
- A track record of success in all aspects of digital marketing including social media (organic and paid), email marketing, video/multimedia, and Google ads. This should include evaluating marketing analytics to report out common metrics like ROI, cost per lead, and conversion rate.
- Excellent internal and external customer relationship skills. Ability to provide timely and accurate support and service to multiple internal stakeholders.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, Fonteva or similar association management software platforms, Pardot or similar email marketing and marketing automation tools, and project management tools such as Asana.
- Understanding of how to manage a departmental budget and analyze internal financial statements.
- Experience in direct mail/advertising creation and distribution
- Exceptional writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and distill complex problems into an action plan.
- Experience establishing production schedules and adhering to deadlines and budget.
Preferred Qualifications
- Association experience desirable.
- Three years of experience successfully managing a team of at least 2 direct reports.
