Scholarship Eligibility Requirements AAMI HSEA 

 

 

The goal of the AAMI-HSEA Health Systems Engineering Scholarship is to encourage students to enter the profession of health systems engineering and to foster excellence in the field. Upper level undergraduate students (junior or third year and above) and graduate students at the master's and doctoral levels who have completed no more than two years of graduate study are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have demonstrated some level of involvement and commitment to the field of health systems engineering (e.g., health systems coursework, internships, senior design project with focus on health systems) that is indicative of a trajectory towards a career in the profession.

Applicants must be current full-time third year or above undergraduate college students, or recent college graduates who have been accepted to a graduate program seeking a career in the health systems engineering profession at an accredited college or university. Typical programs would include degrees in industrial engineering, management science, operations research, and related fields.

Applicants must demonstrate a combination of technical aptitude, academic excellence, and commitment to the health systems profession.

Deadlines

Admission to an educational program can be pending at the time of application for the scholarship. The 2023 nomination process has closed.  We will be accepting 2024 applications later this year.  Please contact awards@aami.org with any questions.

Important Notes for Scholarship Applicants

  • Scholarship recipients will be asked to provide proof of course registration before the check is granted.
  • Recipients will be selected by the AAMI Awards Committee, whose decisions are final. Deliberations of the AAMI Awards committee are confidential.
  • Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing by June 1, or earlier.
  • Scholarship recipients will be announced in AAMI publications, on AAMI’s website, and are invited to the AAMI Exchange.
  • If the scholarship recipient drops out of college, is removed from college, or moves out of the program, the award recipient is required to return the award funding to the AAMI Foundation.
  • Applicants are eligible to apply and receive a scholarship in successive years.
  • Applicants are welcome to apply for both the AAMI Foundation and the HSEA scholarships, but are only eligible to receive one scholarship per calendar year.
  • The AAMI Foundation scholarship is awarded without regard to race, color, ancestry, sex, religion, age, handicap, or veteran status.
