This award is given to one individual recipient per year in recognition of significant and sustained contributions to advancing the science and practice of healthcare sterilization, sterility assurance and contamination control.

Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A strong record of development and deployment of original, peer-reviewed published and/or presented research, innovative methodologies, or novel technologies that demonstrate scientific rigor and integrity, accuracy, and reproducibility.
  • Substantial and sustained impact on the field of sterilization, sterility assurance, and contamination control through adoption or incorporation (i.e., into standards and other key guidance) of their research findings, methodologies or technologies by the sterilization and sterilization assurance community (including industry, regulatory bodies, or health care settings) leading to improved practices and enhanced patient safety.
  • History of active and productive collaboration with other researchers, industry professionals, or regulatory bodies to advance the science of sterilization, sterility assurance and contamination control.
  • Demonstrated leadership in serving professional organizations, initiating and coordinating collaborative research, or organizing conferences or workshops related to sterilization and sterility assurance.
  • Mentorship of earlier career professionals in the field of sterilization, sterility assurance, and contamination control.
