AAMI All Star: Heidi Horn

Heidi Horn
Heidi Horn
is Vice president of healthcare technology management (HTM) at SSM Health in St. Louis, MO

AAMI activities:

Member of the AAMI Board of Directors, vice chair of AAMI’s Technology Management Council, former chair of the AAMI Awards Committee, former member of the Nominating Committee, annual conference and webinar presenter, contributor to BI&T

Most enjoyable part about volunteering:

“Getting to know so many people in the field and learning new and better ways to do things that I can apply to my own HTM organization. I have met so many incredible people through my volunteering activities and now have a long list of HTM experts I can call upon to help quickly resolve an issue or identify a best practice. Volunteering also has given me a more well-rounded perspective of the medical device industry and allows me to have a better understanding of the many factors impacting it.”

Something people might not know about me:

“I got my bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri. I wanted to be an investigative journalist on 60 Minutes, but the realities of what a cub reporter earns and the hours they work pushed me toward a master’s degree in marketing, a job in corporate America, and then eventually to healthcare. My first job in healthcare 20 years ago was selling clinical equipment maintenance services to other hospitals, which made me fall in love with the HTM field.”
