The Health Technology Alliance (HTA), a joint collaboration between AAMI, the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE), and the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), is developing a session for the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS20) that explores the increasing connectiveness of medical devices—as well as the importance of minimizing potential security risks.

The session, titled “Device Security and Interoperability – Are You Ready?”, will be presented by Michael Marchant, director of system integration and health information exchange at UC Davis Health in Davis, CA, and Shawn Jackman, CEO of Clinical Mobility in Livermore, CA.

HTA steering committee members Marchant and Jackman will discuss the increasing connection of medical devices with each other and with data repository systems, as well as the importance of minimizing security risks within those interconnected spaces. The session is scheduled for March 11 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the HIMSS Spot stage in Lobby C.

More than 45,000 health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives, and market suppliers are expected to attend HIMSS20, March 9–13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. AAMI members receive a discounted admission to HIMSS20. To receive the discount, go to www.himssconference.org/registration and choose “collaborator” from the registration options.
