Horizons: Cleaning House: A Fresh Look at Sterilization Practices and Related Processes
Healthcare personnel face a constant challenge in ensuring that devices, such as endoscopes, are correctly sterilized and reprocessed, in order to protect patients from a host of healthcare-associated infections. As evidenced by the content in this issue of Horizons, reducing the risk of exposure to improperly reprocessed medical devices is a shared responsibility among industry, regulators, healthcare facilities and personnel, and other stakeholders. With the right focus and determination for creating ironclad foundations of quality and safety, sterile processing and industrial sterilization will improve.
