TMC to Hold Numerous Events at Annual Conference

AAMI’s Technology Management Council (TMC) will hold roundtables for educators and biomed society leaders, a forum on the future of the healthcare technology management profession, and a session to help attendees benchmark their department during the AAMI 2011 Annual Conference & Expo, which runs June 25-27 in San Antonio, TX.

The Educators Roundtable, which will take place Sunday, June 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., will give educators a change to collaborate and will include an update on AAMI’s core curriculum project. The goal of the project is to create a core curriculum for biomed programs to help create greater uniformity among entry-level biomeds, and better prepare graduates for jobs in the industry.

The Biomed Society Roundtable, which runs 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, gives leaders a chance to interact on pressing issues, such as expanding a society’s geographic reach and encouraging certification within your association.

The public forum will detail and expand on the results of the Future Forum, an April event at AAMI’s headquarters where more than two dozen industry professionals recommended the name “healthcare technology management” for the field. The forum occurs Sunday, June 26, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The educational session “Using Benchmarking and Best Practices to Improve Departmental Performance,” which will run from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 25,will show attendees how to benchmark their department’s policies, procedures, and performance.

All sessions and roundtables will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

These aren’t the only benefits to attending the conference, which will feature more than 50 educational sessions and more than 150 exhibitors showing off the latest technology at the Expo. For more information on the conference, visit www.aami.org/ac.
