| Biography | Myron is the Program Coordinator of the Biomedical Engineering Technology (BET) program for Penn State University (PSU) at the New Kensington Campus. Here Myron is responsible for the administrative functions, student counseling, promotion, teaching, coordinating advisory committee meetings, and overall responsibilities for BET program. Prior to working at PSU, Myron was the Director of Technology for the South Hills Health System in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. During that time, Myron was responsible for: clinical engineering, materials management, warehouse/storeroom, capital budgeting process, environment of care and other related functions. In April of 1998, Myron earned a Masters of Science Degree in Health Services Administration at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois. He holds three undergraduate degrees: B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Point Park College (1986), A.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (1979) and A.S. degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology (1979) from Penn State University. Myron became certified as a CBET in 1985, CCE in 1988 and just obtained his CRES certification in 2006. In 1999, he was presented Senior membership (SASHE) with the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). At the 2000 ASHE annual meeting, Myron received the prestigious Personal Recognition Award. He has also received several other professional awards, such as the: Donald M. Sauerman Award by the Pa. Society for Health Facility Engineers (October 1994), and the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Penn State University New Kensington (1992). In addition to his teaching at Penn State University, Myron teaches courses and does consulting work for DITEC in Solon Ohio. He also does consulting work in the clinical engineering, facilities management, material management and medical equipment expert witness areas. He is a BET program evaluator for ABET and is active with several local and national professional organizations. |
