Biography

Izabella is the Director of the Technology Management Department at Beaumont Services Company in Royal Oak, Michigan. She leads a team of clinical ad human factors engineers who support technology management, risk assessment, safety and new equipment acquisitions for approximately $200 million in medical devices and equipment owned by William Beaumont Hospital of Royal Oak, MI. She budgets and supervises the clinical engineering department and the BTUC (Beaumont Technology Usability Center) developing long and short-term plans in support of goals and objectives of BSC and client; and she coordinates multidisciplinary engagements with medical device manufacturers on usability testing. Izabella manages the FDA project focused on the Risk Assessment of Tubing Misconnections in PICU, and oversees the technical development of employees with focus on human factors and usability applications.

As the past president of ACCE (American College of Clinical Engineering) and her involvement in healthcare technology management, Izabella has been invited to present on medical technology and healthcare safety at conferences worldwide, including HTAi (Healthcare Technology Assessment International) and AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).

Co-developed and presently teaches a graduate level course on Introduction to Clinical Engineering and Technology Management at Wayne State University.

Izabella is a certified clinical engineer. She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Walsh College in MI. Izabella has also received a CSSBB (Certified Six Sigma Black Belt) from the Certification Board of the American Society of Quality, and has a CCE (Clinical Engineering Certification) from the U.S. Board of Examiners and Healthcare Technology Certification Commission.
