Members on the Move
- Eric Franca, a biomedical engineer at the Food and Drug Administration, has won a spot in the 2017 IEC Young Professionals Program, which is dedicated to nurturing the world’s upcoming electrotechnology experts and leaders. Franca serves as the U.S. expert for IEC/SC 62D/JWG 36, which focuses on developing international standards for medical robots for rehabilitation, and is the cochair of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health’s robotics task group.
- Avinash Konkani has been promoted to senior clinical engineer at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA. Konkani, who joined the system in 2014, also serves as a medical equipment planner and works with clinical leadership as a healthcare technology consultant. He is a member of the BI&T Editorial Board and AAMI’s Technology Management Council.
Bob Steurer, a 35-year veteran in the medical device industry, has started his own consulting company, Steurer Consulting Group. This company provides expertise for clients in the areas of marketing, regulatory compliance, alarm management, and product development. Steurer is a member of the AAMI Foundation’s National Coalition for Alarm Management Safety and several national and international standards committees.
