International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)
San Diego was the site of the May 5-8 IAHCSMM Conference & Expo, which offered attendees numerous educational sessions and networking events.
Attendees also got the chance to listen to a motivational keynote speech by Dr. John Bookwalter, a fellow at the American College of Surgeons, who is best known for inventing the “Bookwalter Retractor,” the most commonly used table fixed surgical retractor in use today.
AAMI had a strong presence at the conference—distributing sterilization resources to attendees in the registration area and on the Expo floor. Here, AAMI’s Standards Director Susan Gillespie discusses the newest AAMI sterilization standards with an attendee. While at the conference, the new AAMI-IAHCSMM benchmarking task force also met for the first time and began discussing enhancements to the benchmarking platform.
And the Expo was as robust as ever with exhibitors overflowing into a pavilion and parking area. Exhibitors found plenty of fun ways to interact with attendees.
