BI&T (Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology), Horizons, and AAMI News were big winners in a national competition of healthcare publications. The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) has honored AAMI with:
Published twice a year, Horizons magazine is a specialty publication that focuses on a specific topic in each edition. It reaches more than 10,000 readers and often is cited by experts in the field. The spring 2013 edition covered the rapid ascension of home healthcare, while the fall Horizons will take a detailed look at the role of human factors in information technology. AAMI News is a monthly newsletter that provides readers with timely coverage of healthcare technology developments, regulatory affairs, hospital issues, standards activities, industry events, and AAMI programs. The publication reaches the more than 7,000 AAMI members each month, and total readership is estimated at roughly 13,000. BI&T is AAMI’s peer-reviewed journal that is published six times a year. It reaches more than 7,000 subscribers and has an estimated readership of roughly 13,000. Readers include healthcare technology management professionals, such as clinical engineers and biomedical equipment technicians, as well as medical device manufacturers, regulatory affairs professionals, and sterilization experts. The journal has featured articles from many respected leaders in the field who provide expert advice on a range of topics. Ray Laxton, chair of AAMI’s Board of Directors, said the awards mark a proud moment for the organization. “Our members have always given top marks to AAMI publications for their thoroughness, accuracy, quality of the content, and the helpful, practical guidance contained in the articles,” said Laxton, vice president of Strategic Partnerships with ARAMARK Healthcare Technologies. “Now to have peers from other nonprofit associations recognize our publications for excellence is the icing on the cake. We were up against some top publications in healthcare, and some much larger publications with significant resources. These awards are not only for AAMI staff and the Editorial Board, but for all AAMI members.” According to its website, ASHPE is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare publication editors. The group has posted a complete list of this year’s award winners here (pdf). AAMI, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1967. It is a diverse community of nearly 7,000 healthcare technology professionals united by one important mission—supporting the healthcare community in the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology. |
