Connectivity Conference Coming Up
Medical device connectivity appears to be in a constant state of flux, and an upcoming conference supported by AAMI is designed to help hospitals and manufacturers cope with the latest regulations, products, and practices.
The Fourth Annual Medical Device Connectivity Conference & Exhibition, organized by The Center for Business Innovation, is scheduled for Nov. 1-2 in Boston, MA. AAMI members get a $100 discount off the registration fee.
“If your hospital is looking to adopt connectivity or your company is undertaking the development of connectivity products, this event remains the most focused and concentrated educational event of the year,” Tim Gee, principal of Medical Connectivity Consulting and the program chair, wrote in a letter outlining the conference.
The conference, which has the support of several organizations and publications that focus on medical technology, is for healthcare technology management professionals, device manufacturers, information technology (IT) experts, consultants, and hospital executives. AAMI is one of the conference’s supporting organizations.
“Because of the rapid change and innovation of the connectivity market, it is hard to frame the program around one or a few themes. This year, like those of the past, the program is driven by events of the past year,” Gee wrote, citing developments in the alarm notification and medical device data system markets as examples.
The conference will feature speeches by several healthcare technology leaders, including
Carol Davis-Smith, vice president of clinical technology for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA. Davis-Smith will recap the recent AAMI-U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Medical Device Interoperability Summit, To read a news article about the summit, click here.
Julian Goldman, director of the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technologies’ Program on Interoperability in Boston, MA, will survey the current state of interoperability in his speech.
There will also be sessions on cybersecurity, connectivity case studies, and wireless spectrum.
