AAMI Updates Certification Study Guide

With an eye on the future of healthcare technology management, AAMI has updated a key resource to help professionals prepare for certification exams.

The BMET Study Guide: Preparing for Certification and Sharpening Your Skills CD features new and updated sample test questions to help professionals study for the certified biomedical equipment technician (CBET) exam. It comes as applications for the CBET exam reached the highest total ever, 823, in 2011.

The new edition features 574 sample questions, 151 of which are new. For the first time there is also a category of questions on health information technology (IT), says Ethan Hertz, a healthcare technology management veteran who developed the CD.

“The 2012 edition of the guide represents the most comprehensive revision to this product in over 20 years,” he says.

Users can still select the type of test they want. They can choose a learning mode that gives instant feedback after a choice is made or one that simulates actual test conditions with no feedback.

The International Certification Commission also offers exams for laboratory equipment specialists and radiology equipment specialists. Hertz says the questions in the updated BMET guide could help to prepare those test takers as well.

The exams are offered electronically in May and November at various sites, and at the AAMI 2013 Conference & Expo, June 1–3 in Long Beach, CA.

AAMI would like to thank the CD’s sponsors: ARAMARK Healthcare Technologies, CREST Services, and Stephens International Recruiting.

The list price is $160 and the AAMI member price is $90. The order code is SGCD. To order copies, shop the AAMI store here or call +1-877-249-8226.

AAMI, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1967. It is a diverse community of nearly 7,000 healthcare technology professionals united by one important mission—supporting the healthcare community in the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology.
