‘Virtual’ Town Hall to Offer Case Study of Collaboration
The eighth in a series of virtual and highly interactive town hall meetings from the CE-IT Community is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, at 12:00 Noon Eastern. You can register here for the complimentary 90-minute session, which will offer a valuable case study of interdepartmental collaboration in a major healthcare system.
David Braeutigam, Director of Biomedical Engineering with the Baylor Health Care System will provide a case study of collaboration between his department and his hospital system’s Information Technology (IT) department. Braeutigam will discuss ‘handoffs’ between the two departments, issues that arose and lessons learned, and much more.
The CE-IT Community is a collaboration among AAMI, ACCE, and HIMSS. Previous town halls have covered interoperability, medical device security, wireless issues, MDDS & IEC 80001, mHealth, connectivity with physiologic monitors, and interoperability with the IHE profiles.

Through these town hall meetings, participants learn about and discuss timely issues related to medical technology networking and interoperability, risk management, and interdepartmental collaboration. Each session includes expert panelists who will discuss a particular hot topic, and will provide an opportunity for questions and discussion.
The July 18 virtual Town Hall will be moderated by Elliot Sloane, PhD, and will feature a presentation by David Braeutigam, CBET, Director of Biomedical Engineering with the Baylor Health Care System.
