AAMI has received numerous wonderful accounts of facilities and hospital systems celebrating National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week in grand style. But one group in particular stood out from the crowd. So AAMI hereby recognizes the University of Vermont (UVM) Technical Services Partnership (TSP) as the group that has best celebrated National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week 2011. Congratulations to the University of Vermont!
The UVM technical services team sent a letter to each CEO and to other important contacts in the UVM system, and enclosed with the letter the official 2011 proclamation for the week. They also distributed copies of AAMI’s new C-Suite brochure to these individuals.
The team also had custom posters recognizing the TSP staff created, and placed copies of it at the door of each shop and in cafeterias where possible. Further, they invited all UVM staff to visit a prominently placed table staffed by Technical Services leadership. At this table, one would find: the custom poster; a poster board highlighting recent press and articles about UVM’s Technical Services Partnership; copies of AAMI’s BMET career brochure; a brochure outlining the biomedical education opportunities available at the University of Vermont; chocolates; and a Biomed Bowl raffle ticket for a chance to win a University of Vermont Hat. The raffle ticket required the entrant to ask their most intriguing question about healthcare technology management or about medical equipment in general.
Finally, each TSP staff member received a new Leatherman tool to use in their day-to-day work, as well as a thank-you card from the TSP Leadership Team.
The UVM Technical Services staff will receive a special prize from AAMI in recognition for their efforts.
AAMI would also like to recognize two runners up in this contest — Spectrum Health of Grand Rapids, MI, and Hays Medical Center of Hays, KS. Congratulations to those facilities, and thanks to all who participated! We hope you’ve had a spirited week.
A special thanks to ARAMARK Clinical Technology Services for its support of National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week 2011!
