AAMI President Shares 2010 Projects

A recent video from DotMed News features AAMI President Mary Logan sharing some of the upcoming 2010 AAMI projects.

Logan, who spoke with DotMed during the North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA) meeting in December, discussed ways AAMI projects can benefit members.

One project focuses on building awareness among hospital chief executive leaders, or the C-Suite, about the importance of clinical engineering departments. “We are trying to help create more visibility for clinical engineering departments with the C-Suite in hospitals to help share the value of CE departments with senior management,” Logan says. “That is a big challenge for us and we have some projects in 2010 to help support that.”

Another big project involves providing resources for the upcoming convergence of medical devices and information technology (IT). “The latest devices look more like I-Phone applications than they do stand-alone equipment,” Logan says. “That means challenges for learning how to take care of the equipment, support the clinicians in their use of it, and what kind of training is needed to help with equipment planning and installation repair.”
