FDA to Increase User Fees in 2010
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will administer an increase of roughly $17,000 on some medical device user fees.
FDA will increase the base rate for the standard fee for a pre-market application from $200,725 to $217,817, according to a notice published in the Federal Register. The fee for small businesses will also rise from $50,181 to $54,447.
The new fee structure goes into effect October 1, 2009, and will remain in effect until September 30, 2010.
FDA can collect the fees for certain medical device submissions, and annual fees for both periodic reports and for certain establishments subject to registration, according to the notice.
