AAMI to Take Part in Device Connectivity Conference

AAMI will participate in the Inaugural Medical Device Connectivity Conference & Exhibition, which will take place at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA on Sept. 10-11.

The conference — which will focus on a variety of issues surrounding the integration of medical devices and information systems — is in response to a greater awareness of medical device connectivity due to certain regulatory actions such as the pending finalization of IEC 80001, which is the standard for application of risk management for information technology (IT) networks incorporating medical devices.

Representing AAMI, Steve Rakitin will speak at the conference about how clinicians and device manufacturers can collaborate to reduce risk. Rakitin, the president of Software Quality Consulting, also recently published a paper on connectivity and safety, which appears in the July/August issue of AAMI’s peer-reviewed journal, Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology (BI&T).

AAMI members will receive a $100 discount on registration fees to the IT conference. For more information about the conference, click here.
