Former AAMI President Recognized for Contributions |

The former president of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) has been recognized for his long-time tenure and accomplishments in the field of medical technology. Michael J. Miller, who retired as president this year after serving for 40 years, was awarded the AAMI Leadership Award and the Award for Excellence from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The AAMI Leadership award has been only given out three other times in AAMI’s history. It recognizes AAMI leaders who have made an extraordinary contribution to the growth of the association and the advancement of medical instrumentation. The FDA Award for Excellence is given to individuals for outstanding leadership in improving public health and medical device safety. FDA lauded not only Miller but also AAMI and the AAMI consensus standards development model.
