Study Shows New Therapy Reduces Heart Failure Rate
Results from a clinical trial shows that the use of cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-D) slows the progression of heart failure in asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic heart patients.
The results of the trial, sponsored by Boston Scientific Corporation and the University of Rochester Medical Center, showed a 29% reduction in death or heart failure interventions when compared to traditional implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
The clinical trial included more than 1,800 patients enrolled at 110 centers in 14 countries.
