Florida Biomed Remembered

Colleagues in the biomed community are fondly remembering Douglas D. Back, who passed away on June 4.

Douglas BackA knowledgeable and helpful biomed to many, Back lived in Chipley, FL, where he worked as the owner of Medical Concepts — a company that sells, repairs, and buys medical equipment.

Back was an avid participant on the popular biomedtalk listserv, often helping out other biomeds with problems or issues that would arise. “Douglas has been very helpful to all of us, and though I never met him I know he has helped me a lot,” says Mickey Couvertier, lead biomedical technician at St. Josephs Hospital in Wisconsin. “He often sent e-mails to speak to me in private, and he is one of the people whose mentorship (though I only knew him through the listserv) has benefited my career in many ways.”

He is survived by his wife Lory, son Bradley, and daughter Katie Leek.
