University Offers Healthcare Technology Courses Online
The University of Vermont will offer a series of online courses for those interested in starting or supplementing a career in healthcare technology.
“The whole course sequence would be set up for someone who has a either a technical background or experience in healthcare that wants to work in the field of healthcare technology, primarily in support and management functions,” says Tobey Clark, director of instrumentation and technical services at the University of Vermont and an adjunct lecturer.
The program consists of three online courses on healthcare technology and a one-week hands-on laboratory course held at the university. Participants that complete the full program will receive a certificate.
The course program isn’t just for people interested in becoming biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs). Nursing technologists can benefit from the basic courses, and hospital administrators can take advanced courses to learn about technology management, Clark says. BMETs can also use the advanced courses to supplement their education, he adds.
The deadline to register for the online course program is May 15. For more information, visit http://its.uvm.edu/medtech/index.html.
