The Joint Commission has issued a Sentinel Event Alert intended to prevent accidents and injuries in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite.
According to the Joint Commission, more than 10 million MRI scans are done in the United States each year. While the capabilities of the MRI scanner are well-recognized, its inherent dangers may not be as well known.
