Achieving Innovation and Breakthrough Usability in Medical Devices: Real-World Processes and Case Studies of
Modern Medical User Experience
This webinar CD presents a proven User Experience (UX) design process that has successfully introduced breakthrough usability for several next-generation medical devices. Rather than discussing theory, this webinar presents real world case studies, from devices that have recently entered the market, to illustrate how a well-crafted UX process can achieve high levels of innovation and usability while also addressing the business needs of device manufacturers.
Particular focus is put on technology-based devices including software and handhelds. Disposables are discussed as part of the overall user experience. The case studies, which are vignettes that discuss both the process and the outcome, include devices related to Navigated Guidance, injection, patient monitoring, and patient-facing web sites. To provide a well-rounded perspective into how this process impacts existing organizations, one of the speakers provides perspectives from the medical device manufacturers’ perspective.
This two-hour webinar CD includes:
- A User Experience design process that has been successfully used with medical devices
- Techniques for live observation, lab-based usability testing, user interface design, and industrial design
- Design examples that span software, industrial design, and DFUs
- Positive impact of this process on the quality, safety, and profitability of modern medical devices
- Forum where questions were asked and answers given based on real-world experience with these issues
- Regulatory issues related to usability are mentioned but they are not the focus of this webinar.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The program demonstratew, using real-world examples, how a robust user experience process can introduce product innovation, improve patient safety, and reduce costs all at the same time. Participants learn about research and design techniques that yield these positive results if they are applied correctly at the right time. Exposure to successful implementation of these techniques gives participants insights into which processes make sense in their particular situation.
