Keeping Patients Safe: Guidance for Preparation and Quality Management of Fluids for Hemodialysis

Learn about the new ISO standards recently adopted by ANSI/AAMI as replacement documents for ANSI/AAMI RD52.  One of these new documents, ANSI/AAMI/ISO 23500:2011, includes some significant changes, particularly in the water and dialysate quality requirements.  These changes will have an impact on dialysis facilities, particularly those who have struggled with meeting the RD52 action levels and limits.  Laboratory services will have to adapt to changes in analytical requirements and technical services, and facilities must develop strategies to minimize delays for equipment “return to service” due to extended times between sample collection, results reporting and disinfection scheduling.  This webinar will address the differences between ANSI/AAMI/ISO 23500 and RD52 and the impact of these changes on the affected parties. The potential and process for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission to adopt this ISO document will be addressed, and suggestions will be provided for making a smooth transition to the new requirements.

  WHO SHOULD PURCHASE

This program is designed for those who are responsible for delivering quality dialysis to ESRD patients, those who maintain the equipment and systems necessary to deliver hemodialysis therapy, and those who are responsible for CMS regulatory compliance.  Personnel who design, develop, manufacture, and utilize concentrates, water treatment systems, and systems for reprocessing dialyzers will also benefit from this program.
