How to Convince Your Boss That You
Should
Attend AAMI 2013!
Need help convincing your boss that you should attend? Here are some suggestions:
- "Here's why" letter: Use this letter to tell your supervisor why it's important for you to attend (e.g., help your facility increase productivity; enhance the quality of healthcare delivery).
- Letter of invitation: This letter from AAMI's president invites you to attend and explains why you should be there. (If you'd like a personally addressed invitation letter, just send a request to cdinegar@aami.org)
- Session checklist: Show your supervisor what educational sessions you plan to attend—and ask for your supervisor's input regarding those choices.
- Proven Idea: Give your supervisor a list of 10 things you hope to learn and bring back to the job.
- More ideas: Offer to take notes to share learning with colleagues; commit to a "lunch 'n learn" for you department.
- Project help: Emphasize how you can learn from peers who have overcome the same project challenges you're facing. The hallway and break conversations and roundtable discussions are great for project networking that will save time and money.
- Exhibitor list: Use it to show your boss the value of seeing your current suppliers all in one convenient place.
- Certification: Need renewal points? You'll earn 1.5 points for attending the full conference. Thinking of becoming certified? The BMET Evaluation and Review Course will help you prepare for the CBET exam.
- Member Discounts: If you're a member of AAMI or a member of ACCE, CMIA, CABMET, HIMSS, ICIS, JSMI, NCBA, or NTBA, you'll save $150 off the non-member full-conference rate.
- Free Membership: If you register at the non-member rate, you also can elect to get a full year of AAMI membership—a $225 value. (You must register by phone, mail, or fax for this option.)
AAMI 2013 (June 1-3, in Long Beach, CA) is the premier conference for healthcare technology management professionals. We hope your supervisor will agree that your attendance is necessary, and we look forward to seeing you there.
