Standardized Terminology
Safety Issue:
Inconsistent terminology across multiple devices, multiple vendors, and clinical information systems. This leads to confusion regarding how to use the pump and what the pump is doing.
Work Item Expectation:
- Working group to determine if other group (e.g. AAMI Infusion Device standards committee, AAMI Human Factors standards committee) should be involved.
- Review potential sources for pre-existing taxonomies for infusion-related parameters (e.g. bolusing).
- Human factors and clinicians to determine appropriateness of terminology.
