Abstract
Recent infusion technology has brought about the development of smart pumps. These devices have custom-built drug libraries that limit or prevent nurses from inadvertently selecting incorrect infusion rates based on drugs chosen. Many hospitals have already adopted these pumps, which also are able to collect data on infusions, error messages, and manual bypassing of the alert screens.
