AAMI Technical Committee Award Guidelines
Guidelines for Nominations
Interested committees and working groups are encouraged to prepare and submit a report to AAMI using the following outline. At least one of the documents forming the basis of the nomination must have been approved in the previous 12 months to the date the nomination is submitted. Contact committee staff representatives as needed for assistance with rosters, voting records, etc.
Name of AAMI Technical Committee or Working Group
Current Chair(s)
- Name(s), affiliations and dates. For each person listed, provide a description of his or her leadership and contributions to the work of the committee
Committee Members
- Name(s), affiliations and interest categories (I, U, R, G) of members at the time the most recent document covered by the nomination was submitted to the AAMI Standards Board for final approval
- Name(s), affiliations and interest categories (I, U, R, G) of current members (if different from , include complete current roster of members; otherwise, state “same as ”) [Contact your committee staff representative for assistance in preparing this list ]
Outstanding Former Chairs and Members (optional)
- Name(s), affiliations, position(s) held and dates. For each person listed, provide a description of his or her leadership and contributions to the work of the committee.
- NOTE—Committees submitting nominations for the AAMI Technical Committee Award may include up to five former members who have made a significant contribution to the work and who the committee feels should be recognized with a plaque as part of the committee award process. See also background on the AAMI Standards Developer Award for recognizing individual leadership and accomplishments.
Basis for the Award
Nominations may be based on a single document or on a body of work by the committee; at least one of the documents must have been approved in the previous 12 months to the date the nomination is submitted.
Technical Documents List the final technical document(s), including standards, recommended practices and technical information reports that are the basis for the nomination. For each document listed, include:
- Document number, approval date, title, and whether new or revised
- Important dates in document development (from start date of project through final approval)
- Major changes, issues, difficulties or conflicts
- Degree of consensus achieved (attach final voting results and # of outstanding objections reported to ANSI, if any)
- Other relevant information (use this section to describe e.g., round robin testing of a new test method developed for the standard)
- Importance of the contributions, benefits and effects that resulted/will result from the standard(s) (e.g., contribution to patient safety, international trade, etc).
Other committee activities and achievements
- Describe any other committee activities that the selection committee should take into account in deciding on the award, such as assisting AAMI with educational courses related to the standard(s), authoring articles about the standard or technology covered by the committee, commenting on standards of other organizations, etc.

For reports being submitted by cochairs on behalf of a committee, both cochairs should include the information and sign and date the report.
