From the President ... Mary Logan

Mary Logan, PresidentWhen you move into a new home, you can tell a lot about the people who lived there before you, and about the neighbors in the building or down the block. As a new resident of Arlington, VA, and of the proverbial corner office here at AAMI, I’m excited to settle in.

It’s already obvious what a great place this is, and that the person who built it, Mike Miller, truly cared and continues to care about AAMI. This home is well built, with strong features and a welcoming presence.

When you read Mike’s final report to the membership (link here ), you will be able to imagine what AAMI must have been like when Mike started, with not much more than the vision of its founders. Mike might not have created the architects’ renderings, but he surely drafted the blueprints and built this house from the ground up. AAMI has his blood, sweat, and tears in the walls and will carry his DNA for many years to come.

For these first three months, it’s my goal to listen and learn. I want to hear what’s important to you, what we are doing well, and how we can serve your needs better.

As I listen, here are my questions to you:

  • What do you hope to preserve about AAMI and why?
  • What do you hope I will do?
  • What are you concerned I will and will not do?
  • What are the top three things we need to change at AAMI and why?

Please take a moment to share your thoughts. Send an e-mail: mlogan@aami.org; give me a call: (703) 253-8265; or answer online: www.aami.org/publications/BIT/mary.html. The more perspectives I hear, the more grounded I will be in preserving the luster of this well-built home and updating it for the next generation who will call AAMI home or move into the neighborhood.
